The people sold me a vehicle that’s mess after 10 months with out no warranty and I can’t afford to get fix

Response from owner

Shirley, Sorry to hear you are experiencing vehicle issues. We do not have record of selling a vehicle to a Shirley Coleman within the last couple of years. Is you intention to leave a review for a dealership other than Deery Brothers, Inc at 200 S Gear Ave, West Burlington?

Not even worth the one star! Bought a 2021 Chevy Malibu with 60,239 miles from Scott Kolp on 3-05-24. I live 3 1/2 hours away from their dealership. On 4-23-24 I had to take car into Karl Chevrolet to have the heater controls looked at and they inspected my vehicle. Found the timing chain gasket was leaking. EVEN THOUGH THIS VEHICLE WENT THROUGH DEERYS CERTIFIED INSEPCTION!! So with my warranty I have a $125 deductible, fine. Then I have $250 worth of parts my warranty will not cover but Deerys extended warranty would for this job that’s costing over $2000, in a car that I’ve had less then two months. Called and spoke with Preston at Deery on 4-24 and he said he’d talk with his manager, they had a case similar to this and they worked something out. Called on 4-26 and spoke with Scott (my salesman) and he said he’d talk to his manager. Here it is the following day and Scott calls back. Says they can’t cover any cost but if I bring my car down to them, (3 1/2 hours with a timing chain gasket leaking) they’d fix it. Now mind you this is a 3 1/2 hour drive one way and the job takes 10 hours if there’s no issues. Then I have a 3 1/2 hour drive back to my house. Deery would rather their customer waste over 17 hours of our time ,then for them to cover $250 cost of parts that are not covered under my warranty, on a car I’ve had less then 60 days. IT WOULD BE CHEAPER FOR THEM TO PAY THE $250 then to pay for all the parts and their tech to do the work! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY ANYTHING FROM YOUR DEALERSHIP! Even spoke with two general managers from both Burlington locations just to be told too bad!! General manager Terry from Deery Toyota was just as much help as the others. Was told to drive the car with a timing chain gasket leak the 3 1/2 drive. Never again will I buy anything from any Deery location.

Response from owner

Matt, As I stated when on the phone with you earlier today. Your threat to leave a poor review if you did not get money for the parts on your vehicle repair was not going to alter our companies policy regarding the Deery Brothers 3 months/3,000 mile Certifed used car policy. It is good that you did purchase an extended warranty and that you were able to get the vehicle repaired closer to home with minimum expense. It is unfortunate you believe threatening a business with a poor review to exhort money is good practice. Terry Mertens

Bought a car in Dec it's a 2021 Buick only one owner 14000 miles so pretty new to me . I had to replace all the wipers ,they send me with 2 key fobs that were dead. It makes noises under the dash when I turn on and off the heat and air ,which I'm getting fixed but been waiting on deery to call me it's been almost a month since I ordered the part .have not been very impressed

Response from owner

Hello Mellisa, We value you feedback and would appreciate the chance to speak with you about your experience with our Parts Department regarding the parts you ordered for the 2021 Buick you recently purchased. Please contact me at your convenience so we can discuss this matter further. Thank you, Terry Mertens General Manager Deery Brothers (319) 752-6000

Very poor customer service. Felt very uncomfortable dealing with them as they were very rude and unprofessional. Was told they didn’t want/need my vehicle from the moment we walked in the door. “They said it needs too much work” Then I go to start the vehicle I was there to look at and it wouldn’t even crank over. Unwilling to negotiate anything. Needless too say my family will never step foot in your dealership again and will not recommend to anyone that I know.

I had the worst experience with any Dealership ever in my 27 years of owning a vehicle. I DO NOT feel the need to go into detail if u have questions reach out to me. BUT I will never recommend purchase or services at this location. "Only in small town W. BURLINGTON "

Make make sure you check your car every time you take it there for tire rotation, a year ago they damaged one of my wheels it took them 4 months to buy me a new one, last time I was there I noticed a small scratch on one of my wheels I called the service manager levi and let him know about the situation 3 days later I went to the store to get a touch up paint, when I was cleaning my wheels I noticed all of them had either little scratches or small chips, the technician was not careful at all , when he did my tire rotation, my tire pressure was 28 when they are supposed to be 33 , 2 of my lug nuts on my rear passenger tire were a little loose definitely they need to be more careful , very disappointed smh

I don’t even like leaving bad reviews but after buying a vehicle for 65k it feels a little more personal that a dealership doesn’t make effort to take care of their customers. We traveled an hour to buy the vehicle. Once we got it home and checked out, the brakes on the car we purchased needed replaced (my husband is an ASE master mechanic) i contacted our salesman who said they checked out fine during their inspection and they would be at our cost. My husband has worked at dealerships for many years in his career and knows this is common practice to pass off a used car as “okay” if the repair is expensive. The brakes will cost us $3000 to replace as they are performance brakes. Obviously Deery didn’t want to front this bill so they checked it off as good to go in their inspection and now it’s our bill to pay.

I came in with cash. Test drove the car and asked a hundred questions about the history. Was assured by my salesman that I was buying a decent, used vehicle. Less that two weeks and 200 miles on the car, the check engine light comes on. A day later, the display reads 'Drivetrain Malfunction'. It was like puking teeth from an alligator, trying to get any help. My salesman, sent me to the service center, the service center sent me to scheduling, she m scheduling sent me back to the service center and then to the sales manager, who was out of the office that day. No one wanted to help and no one had an answer. It's been a week and the car is still sitting there in limbo. The car has a drivetrain warranty, but Deery is looking for any escape from having to pay for a diagnosis or repairs. I will never deal with Deery again and would never recommend them to anyone. Would rate them 0 stars if I could.

Response from owner

Ramon, Sorry your experience wasn't the best for you. Glad we came to a good conclusion for you by purchasing the vehicle back from you.

Don't go to this place. Worst car dealership ever. They all lie to you and give you the less they can for your trade in and then sale it for 5 time's as much then they gave you. The vehicle I bought off them they said everything was good on it but got it home several switches stopped working and the windshield they said didn't leaked leaks. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

Give you one price, then comeback and raise the price and claim that it's because the vehicle is available? Not the 1st dealership I've seen adding in an availability fee on a vehicle they have in stock. It's a new scam some of the less reputable dealerships are using ever since the covid shortage. Buyer beware! In response to owner comment... It was my sister who IS from Burlington that you raised the price on. But that's ok. She came to Des Moines to look at a car we sent her a link to, and she bought it up here. She bought the car as advertised, they didn't increase the price like you did.

Response from owner

Larry we apologize we did not explain the current market values when you contacted us. For our local and repeat customers we are absolutely working with them on pricing. We discovered early on when the supply of vehicles was really tight that out of the area customers were purchasing vehicles from us at the manufacturer's suggested retail price and taking them out of the area and selling them for much more the the suggest retail price due to the limited availability. We decided we needed to adjust our pricing to current market conditions. Larry, if you are a West Burlington area resident we certainly work with you regarding the price, however, if you are not in our area we suggest you shop at your local dealership.

not very happy. was lied to about nitrogen for the tires on my 2500. at the first oil change I let them do. 3 changes in and find out they are just putting air in when they do the tire rotation not nitrogen like it's supposed to be.

Response from owner

Rick we apologize for the over sight. Deery Brothers has never offered nitrogen for tires as studies have found it's effectiveness to be negligible. We certainly visit with the team regarding your tire pressure not being set at the proper level. https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/tire-buying-maintenance/should-you-use-nitrogen-in-car-tires-a6260003694/#:~:text=The%20NHTSA%20study%20also%20found,tire%20degradation%20by%20limiting%20oxidation.

They (salesmen) try to trap you in lot so they can TRY to sell a vehicle. If they won't even let you drive around and look without trying to corner you.... I can shop more pleasant places than this! I am wanting to purchase a new or almost new truck BUT because of their stupid chasing you down, I no longer shop there!!

Response from owner

We are actually glad to hear this from a customer! Deery Brothers expects the team members to be readily available to offer customers help should they need it. If you decide to drive through in the future just kindly let the team know you are not needing any assistance and they will give you all the space you need. Brad Deery would much rather hear the team was readily available than hear someone was on the lot for ten minutes and no one offered to help. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.

Purchased my vehicle in January. Part of the agreement was to have warranty work done. It took us having to call multiple times to finally get it fixed, 6 months later. Got the run-around from our sales guy the whole time. Left my vehicle for a week to have work done after being told that would work with timing & the part wasn’t even there or ordered. Vehicle was at dealership for 2 weeks before finally getting fixed.

I have gone to the service department now 3 times in the last 3-4 months to get my vehicle fixed. I’ve spent almost 2000 already and now they want another 2200 out of me to fix a problem they said was already fixed. I have no more money, along with the almost 400$ monthly payment. I will be giving them a demand letter if they do not get this fixed. First visit they said it was my battery, second visit it was my starter hitting the flywheel, ECU, and some fuses. Now I don’t believe a word they say.

June 2, 2023

Bryce Walljasper

Did nothing to fix the problem except quote out all brand new parts.

Response from owner

Bryce, It appears we performed a factory recall and diagnosed other repairs and provided you with an estimate. You did not authorize the needed repairs. Is it your intention to authorize the needed repairs to have your truck fixed? Please let us know we would be happy to fix your truck.

I would recommend you DO NOT go here, customer service was poor to say the least! Is taking forever to get our title to get our vechile registered and licensed and when we would call to get updates they would rudely say they have up to 30 days to get it to us! That is after I had emailed them asking when we would be expecting it and NO Reply back!!! We have 3 days til the 30 days are up and its a Friday! When another family member bought a vechile the same day at another dealership in Burlington, Iowa and got their title 2 weeks ago!!! This was Not the first time we have bought from a dealershipn but we HAVE NEVER had the problems we have had through them! If I could leave no stars I would! Very disappointed in their customer service!

Response from owner

I am not able to find any information on a Cassandra Murphy purchasing a vehicle from Deery Brothers of West Burlington. I was told that the tires were rotated during service. However, they were not. The front driver tire was low by 6lbs, and it was still low after my appointment. I thought maybe the tech just forgot to do a TPMS relearn when he finished, but this morning when i aired my tires, the front tire was still 6lbs low. I dont appreciate being told something was done when it clearly wasnt.

I'm writing this review 13 months after purchasing a 2016 Lincoln mkc with 51k miles. It has been a nightmare! During test drive I noticed heated seats weren't working was aggressively assured it was just warming up, never have worked, there was no code given to me and sticker is gone so never been able to use keyless entry, locking lug nuts were put on the car, no key came with and had to spend $86 to get them off. I called regarding these issues and was just given the "sold as is" speech. I just spent $2,336 on replacing all 4 "brand new" tires (3 of 4 were all unmatching brand and tred) , 3 parts they had claimed to have just replaced, alignment, and labor. And the "free" oil change I was told would be honored at my local dealership was in fact not free or honored. For spending nearly $25k on this vehicle I would warn anyone to steer clear if you expect any post sale assistance or customer service!

Response from owner

Ashley, Sorry to hear you have had some maintenance issues with your vehicle. Deery Brothers does not offer "free" oil changes. After reviewing the paperwork from your purchase you did purchase a pre-paid maintenance agreement so unless you canceled this service plan your oil changes and tire rotations can be performed at Deery Brothers Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Iowa City and you are eligible for reimbursement if you paid for this service at a Deery location. Regarding any other issues it appears you indicated your understanding of the terms of the sale of the vehicle being sold "As-Is" with your signature on four different forms. You also indicated your intention to not to purchase an extended service agreement to cover non-wear repairs on your vehicle with your signature. We have found it to be best practice to be right up front regarding the terms of the sale by having customers indicate their understanding with their signature in multiple locations. If you would like to be provided with copies of anything you signed please contact the dealership and they will be provided.

Ripoff fees and repair prices! These scammers charged me $160 to read a code as a diagnostic fee. Their repair estimate was $350 higher than two other repair shops in town and the Derry repair tech quoted me a higher price for one repair if I was not doing other unrelated service as well. Since google does not let me respond, I will add a reply here. Regarding your response that I “signed” for the diagnostic and misc fees you added, it’s a lie. I never signed for anything before the service because I dropped off the keys in the overnight box the night before. I didn’t fill out any repair paperwork because the drop box had no paperwork or even a pen, I had to write my info on a scrap piece of paper. I didn’t physically come in until picking up and paying for your rip off, unapproved fees…after I declined your ridiculously high repair costs. Even paying your almost $300 bill for just getting a $70 oil change done, I still came out ahead by GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE, so no…I don’t think anything you offer is a value, you are a dishonest and overpriced repair facility.

Response from owner

Jason, After seeing your review we reviewed your repair order from your visit to the dealership. You indicated your approval to have diagnostics performed on your vehicle for the charge of $160 with your signature. This practice is to ensure we have authorization to perform the diagnostics on customer's vehicle and they know the cost right up front before any work is performed. Regarding the price of repairs as a factory authorized repair facility we not only have factory trained technicians we also have factory authorized/provided equipment that you will not find at independent repair facilities. This training and equipment will typically ensure your vehicle is repaired not only timely but properly to factory specifications. Along with every service we also offer free fluid top off, battery health check, alignment check, 27 multi-point inspection, and automatic car wash and vacuum. I am sure when you take all of the additional services along with factory trained technicians and equipment you will find the pricing more than fair.

I did a little bussiness with tia dealer. After dealing with the manager a few days. I found out for my self the guys was a tool. A liar not a man of his word. I wouldn’t buy from this guys or dealer. We transported a salvage car for them. Same car you see in the picture. Once we arrived manager told us unload here. We will get you a check. In fact it was a lie. No check was given to us. Car was dropped same car they will fix up and sell you as new . Truck doesn’t run is completely recked. We didn’t get paid and they have their truck . Very very dishonest folk. Been doing this 15 years never had to deal with a man who didn’t value his word

Response from owner

Eduardo, Had you read the bill of ladling you would have known the check would not be ready as you brought the vehicle at 7:00pm three hours after the accepted delivery time on the bill of ladling you signed. You were ask to leave after you became belligerent in the showroom. We will not be using your services again after your unprofessional display and failure to read the bill of ladling that you signed regarding drop off times that clearly state drop off between 9:00am and 4:00pm as that is when our staff is available to inspect the vehicles and our office is open to present the check for services rendered.

I will never do business with Deery again.. Had an appointment to get headlights replaced due to being to dim to drive at night. A class action lawsuit of Suarez vs Nissan said that a one time replacement would be made. I was told that my lights did not need replaced. Not sure how they can determine that at 9 o'clock in the morning. How about driving it after dark. Seems like that would be a more accurate test.

Response from owner

Terry, The inspection was conducted according to the guidelines provided to our master certified Nissan technician by the manufacture. The inspections requires lines of darkness to show in your headlights to fall under the special warranty provided by Nissan. The technician was easily able to see your headlights did not show any of the symptoms while he had it in his bay in the shop. If your vehicle did show these lines we would then to have needed to get a Nissan representative involved to confirm they would pay to replace your headlights as the manufacturer may not replace your headlights due to the salvage title on your 2013 Nissan Altima. Depending on why your vehicle is a salvage title the headlights may have already been replaced and may not be Nissan Genuine parts. Sorry we did not do an acceptable job of communicating all of this information. If you would like to discuss further Terry Mertens, our general manager, would be happy to visit with you.

Dealership is price gouging and taking advantage of potential customers at this time. They are not a fair and honest dealership and should be ashamed that they are trying to see cars over 10K MSRP. They is going to put the client in very bad positions financially. I would not recommend doing business with this dealership and will be filling a claim with the BBB in regards to unfair business practices.

Response from owner

Brandon, We are sure you are finding higher than average market do to limited availability of inventory. Please understand our dealership and dealerships all across the nation would much rather offer more inventory for less money per unit as it is a much healthier business model in the long run. In other words if the dealership would receive ten 2022 Toyota RAV4 Primes from the manufacturer and have a guarantee we would receive replacements from the manufacturer we certainly would offer all ten vehicles for the manufacture suggested retail price or even less as the dealership benefits from selling and servicing more units at smaller profit per unit and still remains profitable. However as I am sure you have found in your search the manufactures are not providing enough inventory to replenish supply so we are forced to sell less inventory for more per unit at this time. Your offer of $2,000 over the manufacture suggested retail price although in normal economic conditions would be considered more than fair if not generous is far too low for the dealership to consider in current market conditions. As it appears you found our RAV4 Prime on Autotrader you may have also found in your search many used RAV4 Prime listed on the internet are listed for quite a bit more than the brand new model you inquired upon with our dealership. Perhaps you have a trade-in? As the saying goes a rising tide raises all ships. Most customers will typically find their trade-in is worth much more now than ever. We hope this explanation of the supply and demand situation the country currently finds itself in helps clarify why vehicles are selling for more now than in the past. If you do decide to make the 2 1/2 hour trip to our dealership and test drive the RAV4 Prime please contact us ahead of time to confirm availability as the RAV4 Prime is one of the hottest vehicles in the market right now. I've never been gaslighted by a car dealership before. That was until now. Derry Brothers Sales manager Tim boldface lied to my face. The service manager Liz denied things she said to me and reported she didn't say that to the owner. She then threw everybody else in the service department under the bus saying there are more working there than her, they might have said it. Everyone here is a snake. Buyer beware.

Well I waited 1 1/2 weeks for my appt. To be told I didn't have one. They changed my tires but didn't change my oil. All to tell me I'd have to wait another week and a half for my oil change. I've never been so disappointed in my service there until today. Guess I'll have to check a jiffy lube out.

I wanted the Taketa air bags replaced in my Toyota xB, and while I was at it I needed some body & paint work, a new windshield & a set of new tires. The service dept at Deery Bros. passed me off to their certified Toyota technician's voicemail where I never got a call back. A week later I called and talked to another service rep that took all of my car info. She said she'd have to order needed parts and would call back later to set up an appointment for the airbag recall and two other TSB's. Meanwhile, I went to Deery's Collision Center for an estimate to have an old front end crash repaired, body & paint touched up and a broken R.H. headlamp assembly replaced. While they were at it, the windshield needed replacement and a fresh set of lamps for the turn signals and headlights. I was paying out of pocket and left $1,000 deposit to get the ball rolling. A couple days later Deery Collision called to have my car dropped off for said repairs. Later that afternoon I got a call saying my car was ready. No Way. That same morning, I called the NHTSA hot line to see what was happening with my airbag recall & TSB repairs. The lady from NHTSA called Deery Bros., West Burlington and found out that their Toyota Certified technician had walked off the job several days ago and that their wasn't a Toyota Certified technician working on staff at Deery Collision either. Basically, Deery Collision removed the plastic front end, replaced BOTH headlight assemblies (after I told them to only replace the broken right side) and each front light capsule. Deery didn't bother to straighten any of the damaged sheet metal beneath the plastic covering, so the right headlamp assembly was left in a bind with a mounting bolt missing cos it didn't line up. The grill was still popped out, and now it took two people to raise the hood that was left in a bind. Underneath the car, a handful of blind pop rivets were utilized instead of the proper fasteners to hold the plastic together. They totally botched the job up. Talking to, Brad Deery, was like talking to Pontius Pilate washing his hands. He turned the matter over to, Justin, the body shop manager, who in turn said I should take my car to Mike Campbell's because he couldn't squeeze my car in for another three weeks. Justin said he couldn't give me a refund for the headlight I didn't need. I suppose I could go through small claims court trying to reclaim the cost of a $300+ headlight capsule I didn't need. What a way to do business. The one star grade is way above the ''Not Worth Two Dead Flies" way I feel. By the way, Justin, Cory Campbell, did fantastic work on my xB and fixed each of your screw ups. Thanks for the recommendation.

Response from owner

Sorry you had less than a perfect experience. You may recall we replaced the right side headlight, two additional bulbs, and the windshield as you requested. When you received an estimate of over $3,000 to repair the additional damage on your vehicle including the sheet metal you declined the repairs. We removed the bumper to install the new headlight assembly and did not perform any work to the hood of the xB. We have no record of someone from the National Highway Traffic Administration contacting the dealership, however, we would have certainly informed them we have certified technicians. We are glad you were able to have the vehicle repaired to your satisfaction.

Very disappointed. Had four recalls live over an hour away. Was told would take 4 hours to do work. Was asked to be there at 8 am. Was right on time. Here's where it all went wrong. My experience was that I had to find and supply deery brothers with the part needed to fix my vehicle or wait several months and maybe they would have it by then. Set up an appointment with cash in hand to look at a vehicle and they sold it before we got there. Then brought us another car that cost more to look at but was a shady vehicle. It was hard to start seats was dirty and it had a loud exaust!

Response from owner

Sorry Travis that you missed out on the Lincoln. As we discussed with you we conduct business first come first serve to be fair to all customers. It simply would not have been fair to the other customer to tell them someone else may be coming in to look at the car and in turn refuse to sell it to them. Good luck on your vehicle search.

Not a good sales experience when I bought my car new in 2013 and since then dealing with the service department for anything more than an oil change has been disappointing. My last service left me sitting along side the road waiting on a tow back to their service department so they could finish the job. Luckily it was finish(fixed) before they closed. I had a poor experience trying to purchase a new vehicle here. Edit: I asked to speak with management/ownership while I was having difficulties. Your response appears to be lip service.

Response from owner

It appears you live in California. We are car dealership in Iowa. Did you intend to leave this review for Deery Brothers of West Burlington? Is so please reach out to me and fill me in on the details of your visit I would love your feedback to help us improve. Edit: After visiting with our management team we now believe we know who you are. If you are the person in California that was trying to purchase a new Toyota Tacoma we decided to not proceed forward with the sale as we could not 100% verify your identity and we were not comfortable completing a transaction via phone/internet and mail and having a vehicle shipped to California due to fraud concerns. Unfortunately fraudulent transactions and the theft of vehicles this year of the pandemic has been at record highs. We hope you can understand our concern and refusal to move forward with the transaction. Of course if you were willing to make the trip to Iowa from California and we could verify your identity we would have been happy moving forward with the transaction. It appears you must have had a similar experience while trying to purchase a Tacoma in Illinois as well based on your other reviews on your profile. Sorry the circumstances did not work out and we hope you were able to find a Tacoma. Terry Mertens General Manager Deery Brothers of West Burlington Ph (319) 752-6000

Terry can be reached at (319) 752-6600 he would love to visit and investigate if this was not the case.

I drove all the way from Lincoln Nebraska to Iowa and I come to look at this vehicle I am going to test drive and I found 6 spots where paint had come off of this vehicle completely and nothing was stated online about it and the dealership failed to even repair the paint before selling it, and the car had 0 accidents. Also the vehicle rattled a lot when I test drove it and they had no idea about it. If I was any potential customer coming to this dealership. RUN AWAY!

Response from owner

Tristan, Sorry we inconvenienced you. It was our used car manager's understanding that you were planning on being in Des Moines when you asked us to have the vehicle brought to Des Moines from West Burlington, IA. We certainly would not have sent drivers on a 320 mile round trip if we thought you would not be pleased with the vehicle. After reviewing your photos I agree we should have sent you additional photos of the paint chipping. As we discussed the rattle was a spare tire that was loose and that has been addressed. From our discussion it sounds like you really should consider purchasing a later model or new RAV4 in lieu of a five year old vehicle with over 101,000 miles on it if you are wanting something with less wear and tear. However I will send you a video of the touch up that has been done to the vehicle incase you are still interested. If you decide to purchase the vehicle we will not be able to pay drivers to bring the vehicle to Des Moines again you will need to actually make the trip here to West Burlington. I was ready to buy a new truck with them and pay cash but told me they don't accept cashier check. I buy car and motorcycle in texas and out of state all the time and they accepted our cashier check .. they want me to wire a big amount of money before even flying to Iowa to see the truck which is a red flag to us... One thing about wire transfer is i can make mistakes or get scam and i would never see my money again !!

Response from owner

Sorry we have to have this policy. Due to a fake cashier's check being used to purchase a vehicle at one of our stores in the past and a $30,000 vehicle being stolen we had to implement this policy. If your intent is to purchase a brand new truck it is not uncommon for our customers to purchase site unseen. Other than a wire transfer cash is acceptable payment as well. We are certainly glad to know our prices are so competitive that you are willing to travel to Iowa from Texas!

BUYER BEWARE!! On 2/25/20 my husband and I drove 135 miles to Deery Brothers in W. Burlington to test drive a previously leased 2016 Highlander. My husband noticed that the tires were old, all mfd. in diff. years. He pointed this out to the salesman, Blake. He was very concerned with the drivers side front tire which was visibly older and looked as if the sidewall had been repeatedly scuffed against a curb. After the test drive, Blake showed us the service checklist, showing the service dept. had replaced the two rear tires because of significant inside wear on both. My husband noted to Blake that they had “replaced” the worn tires with used tires. My husband asked if the service dept. would have corrected the alignment problem that was obviously responsible for the uneven wear of the rear tires. Blake assured us that the service department would have realigned the rear wheels when they replaced the rear tires. He gave us the price quote for our trade. We asked that they make a price adjustment for the used condition of the tires since all 4 would need to be replaced much sooner than normally anticipated. . My husband repeatedly expressed concerns over the age of the tires to Blake and Tim, stating he would need to replace all four tires within a 1-2 year time period, due to their condition. He told them that new tires for that vehicle would most-likely cost us approx. $900.. With only a $400 credit for the tires, we did purchase the vehicle. While waiting, my husband went outside and checked the air pressure in all four tires. The driver side front tire measured 36 psi at that time. We had trouble with that very tire two days later. The low tire warning alert light came on while we were traveling 70 mph down the interstate. The tire, which had 36 PSI upon purchase, had dropped to 27 PSI, an obvious indication of an air leak. We inflated the tire to 40 PSI in order to get home. The very next morning, prior to the vehicle being driven, my husband checked air, and again found it had lost 13 lbs. just overnight! He inflated the tire to 37 PSI, and I immediately took it to a tire dealer to address the leak. After inspection, the service mgr. said the tire had previously been punctured thru-and-thru and had been patched (poorly); thus the source of the leak. We took picts. of the puncture from both sides. My husband is a retired state trooper and board certified crash reconstruction expert. He investigated hundreds of serious injury and fatality crashes for reconstruction purposes. Upon discovering the unsafely patched tire, he was FURIOUS that Deery Brothers sold this vehicle in this condition, especially after having expressed those concerns several times to Blake and Used Car Manager Heiniger. Patching a thru-and-thru punctured tire should only be used as a temporary measure until the tire can be immediately replaced with a NEW one. Not knowing the patch/repair condition of the other three USED tires put on the vehicle by Deery Brothers, 4 new tires were purchased 4 days after we bought the vehicle. The new tires were put on at a cost to us of $960.77. The vehicle was also found to be out of alignment, with several parts (camber kits) needing to be replaced in order to make the vehicle safe by aligning the wheels properly. This cost us an additional $181.00. So we were given a $400 allowance by Deery Brothers for something that cost us $1,141.77 to properly fix. Deery Brothers let this vehicle leave their dealership with a dangerous tire and wheels that were NOT aligned. Certainly negligent business practice. We emailed Deery Brothers with a detailed account of our experience after the poor tire patch was discovered. The next day we received a call from Used Car Manager Heininger. He was condescending to us on the phone and gave us no “relief”. He left us feeling like we were sh*t out of luck and that we that we were duped. That call was prior to the discovery of the wheel misalignment. It is clear that customer satisfaction is NOT a priority of Deery Brothers, especially for out of town customers. BUYER BEWARE!

Response from owner

Louise, Sorry you did not have an exceptional experience. It is not uncommon for people to travel a long distance to buy vehicles from us as we are known to have some of the lowest prices on the internet. We have found customers really enjoy haggle free pricing. It is extremely uncommon for us to come down on the price of a used vehicle. We did go ahead and make an agreement with you to discount the vehicle $400 as you stated you were planning on replacing the tires. We were really surprised that you threatened to post a poor review if we did not pay you more than we agreed when you purchased the vehicle. It appears you knew the cost you were going go pay to replace all four tires when you made the agreement. We do hope you are enjoying your Highlander! Stay safe!

Horrible experience with the financing, they failed to respond to calls and emails in a timely manner and lisd to me. I believe I was the victim of Bait and Switch and will be forwarding my documentation to the Iowa Attorney Generals office. BUYER BEWARE !

Chris, Did you purchase a vehicle from Deery Brothers of West Burlington on Gear Ave? We are not able to locate what you purchased from us? Please call our general manger, Terry Mertens, so he can investigate for you.

Only because I cannot give them a zero. If you give a bad review for them, be prepared for them to call you at home to ask you to change your review, even after you explain the problem. I gave the review that I felt reflected my experience with them. Afterwards, I felt pressured to change my review and now my opinion is even lower of them. You might have a good experience though. If you see a car you like there, it may well be worth it.

Response from owner

Jewel, Thanks for taking the time to leave another review. I recall speaking with you after you left a review quite some time ago. I always like to reach out to folks that have a bad experience with us especially if they do not leave details of what their personal experience with our staff was like. If I recall correctly you mentioned you left your original review regarding a visit someone other than yourself had with one of our team members and you did not actually visit our store yourself. The ability for our customers to get a good reflection of how myself and our 80 team members conduct business is very important to us and our families as a poor review can influence whether or not a potential customer will make the decision to come visit us. My reputation and that of our team therefore is paramount. Sorry you felt I put pressure on you to change your review. I do recall you volunteered to remove your last review when we visited on the phone, I did not realize you did so because you felt I pressured you to do so. I would never and have never asked a customer to change or alter their reviews as I feel that is in poor taste. The entire Deery Team does hope you change your mind and decide to conduct business with us in the future so you can decide for yourself if we deserve a one-star rating. Please feel free to reach out to me personally if there is anything of which I can be of service. Respectfully, Terry Mertens General Manager

worst experience ever the salesman wanted nothing to do with me wouldnt run numbers. would barely even talk to me I had to ask him multiple times to run numbers he wouldnt just said we cant make a deal anyways. salesman named blake

Response from owner

Jesse, Sorry you had a less than perfect visit. After visiting with Blake we agree we should have run the numbers for you regardless of whether it was out of the budget range you stated you wanted to be. Blake was trying to respect your budget and time, however, it should still be your choice if you want to spend more than you initially shared with us. Good luck in your car shopping.

Don't buy a used car here. They use the warranty and inspection to make it appear as if they are doing you a good service. I bought my car here... they just don't add to the inspection anything that's wrong that they don't want to take care of.

Response from owner

Gina sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your Highlander. Although our technicians do their very best to find any issues a vehicle has during their inspections. It is not always possible to catch everything as some issues may not show up or even exist at the time of the inspection. This is especially true on a 14 year old vehicle with over 166,000 miles on it like the one you purchased. In order for us to offer budget friendly cars such as the one you purchase we offer them "As-Is" We do encourage customers to have their own mechanic inspect a vehicle before making a purchase if they do not feel comfortable with our inspection or with the idea of purchasing a vehicle that would not qualify for any type of extended service agreement. We certainly hope you do not experience any more issues with your Highlander in the future.

I never feel like I'm a valued customer when I go there. It always seems like everything is rushed or I'm being pushed to the side. I was explained one thing when I purchased my vehicle but when I come time to service it there's another story. No matter how early I come in for service there's always a excuse on why they can't get me in. They always tell me that I have to make a appointment or come back at a later time. I just stop wasting my time. Today I called in to find out that I had a maintenance warranty and all the time they have been charging me when I was going there. I wouldn't recommend them to Anyone.👎

Response from owner

Malissa, Sorry you have not had a great experience with us. Although a reservation is not required to have service work performed we recommend setting a reservation as this ensures we are able to service your vehicle in a timely manner. Sorry we did not keep you notified that you had a car care plan. We are happy to reimburse you for any services you had performed that are covered under your maintenance plan. Just reach out to Terry Mertens, our general manager. Have a great day!

This is a horrible place. This place kept my daughter there for over 8 hours waiting for their finance person. They told her she would lose her place if she left. They told her if she could have a cosigner she could get a better interest rate. She called me and I told her I would but couldn't be there until 7:30 that night. They told her no problem, she could get all the paperwork done and I could show up later and sign what I needed to sign. But then they kept her there saying it wouldn't be long. Ended up there for over 8 hours!!!!! I was mad when I found out. How could they treat someone so horribly. I found out as my husband and I were driving up there. We live 45 minutes away. I had called her, she was sick and weak from hunger. Her entire day of plans shot because of Deery Brothers. We made a quick stop at McDonald's for food for her. We get there as she was finally getting in to see the finance person. Now. Everything up to this point was really bad business on Deery Brothers, treating a customer that bad. But the finance person, he is either ignorant of his job or just a crook. I am there to cosign. He has me sign paperwork as a cobuyer. That is how it is done now. Okay, I verified this information with another dealership and they confirmed that is how it is done now. But, what that finance person at Deery Brothers LIED about was that he also said that because I had the better credit the registration/title had to be in my name. I argued this with him. I live in a different county then my daughter. He said this four or more times that I had to be the one on the registration / title and all I had to do was call the court house and they will switch it to my daughter's name. It was late, I was concerned for my daughter. She has already been there for so long, and with the finance guy telling us that is how it is done over and over. I signed the title. Now of course after talking to a honest dealership, they told me that guy lied. The finance company can care less whose name is on the title as long as their loan contract is signed. She was told they would fill up the tank before she left with the car. It was on the red line, empty. When she asked why, they said, oh that is for new cars only. Another lie.

Ordered wrong part for a cross country trip. Correct part didn't arrive in time to leave. Had to leave without 4wd with snow forecast. Haven't been there in 25 years. It'll be another 25 if I'm still alive and walking and still won't go back. Blame game on Toyota instead of their fault. Not quality service.

Response from owner

Sorry you had less than a great experience. I do not have any transactions showing under your name showing in our system. Did you visit Deery Brothers of West Burlington? Please contact me I would love to discuss your experience and see if there is a process that needs to be addressed. Thanks in advance. Only reason I'm giving them one star is to give a review and you have to a least give one star to give a review. I hate doing business with them. They're not friendly and do not do anything to accommodate you. I bought a dodge Durango with a warranty, the tail lamp went out a couple months later. They tell me it isn't covered under the warranty so I had to pay 1,500 to get it fixed. My car also came with free oil changes for 2 years, I can never get in on a walk in. Even if I bring it in early in the morning. They say they do walk ins but they are never prepared to do walk ins to service a vehicle. I just really hate I gave them any business. I should have just stuck with shottenkirk. To me I feel like they don't do anything to satisfy the customer. Then again there's a lot of racism in this town so that might play apart too.

Response from owner

Mallissa, Thanks for taking my call earlier! As I mentioned on the phone we will absolutely work on doing a better job not only for you but all of our customers! Terry Mertens General Manager

My experience was horrible. I will never buy another car here and would advise others not to as well. My seat would not go back in my car. I let my salesman know and he told me they would fix it before I left. They brought the car back up to me and the seat still was not fixed. I let the salesman know that it still was not fixed and he said they have done all they could for me and they could not do anymore. This has been the worst service I've ever had. it was most certainly your dealership. I bought a monte carlo from you guys 2 weeks ago.

Response from owner

Angela, Upon reviewing our records we do not have any car purchases made under your name. Was it purchased under someone else’s name? Or did you intend to leave a review for a different dealership? This is Deery Brothers of West Burlington next to Westland Mall. Please contact our General Manager, Terry Mertens at (319) 752-6000. Or if you mistakenly left a review for the wrong dealership we would ask that you remove your review as our reputation is very important. Thank you so much. Angela, Deery Brothers of West Burlington at 200 S Gear Ave, West Burlington, IA 52655 has not sold a Monte Carlo in 6 months. Please review you paperwork and see which dealership you purchased your vehicle from. Again you are welcome to reach out to Terry Mertens he may be able to direct you to the correct person to help you with your concern at the dealership you purchased your Monte Carlo from. We will report your review to Google as not relevant to this location. Thank you.

BEWARE BEFORE YOU CALL!! I called up (12/14/18 a little after 1pm) to check on a vehicle they have advertised on the Internet. The salesman stated that he wanted to go check to see if the vehicle was still on his lot and asked for a callback number. And I told him I did not wish to be called back other than this once and then he informed me it’s too late we already have your number and there will be follow up calls. I expressed that this was against my wishes and he basically told me too bad. No Sir, what is too bad is thats the car in the color that my wife wishes for Christmas and there was a 90% chance that the boys and I was headed up this weekend to get it! Now 0%!

Response from owner

Sorry you did not enjoy your interaction with our staff. The individual you spoke with wanted to be upfront and honest with you regarding follow up. It in not uncommon for our leadership including our owner to follow up with customers to make sure we are all being helpful and to make sure all of our customers questions are answered. If you would like to speak with the general manager, Terry Mertens, about your experience please contact him at the dealership at (319) 752-6000. Terry welcomes feedback as it helps us get better. Have a great holiday season!
